Sewer work forces lane closures

Deertrail Road in Bettendorf is closing today half-width on the south side of the street for pavement and sewer reconstruction from Devils Glen Road to Deerbrook Drive. The project is expected to be completed in September,

During this time only single lane westbound one-way traffic toward Devils Glen Road will be allowed. Watch for loading/unloading activities and expect delays due to contractor vehicles.

There will be a gap in the construction at the Antler Court intersection for alternating traffic to and from the north side of Deertrail Road. Access to Fawn Lane and White Tail Drive will only be from Devils Glen Road.

Other area road work to keep an eye out for this morning:

•  The west two lanes of Harrison Street from Locust to 12th streets in Davenport are closed for sewer repairs for about four weeks

• Avenue of the Cities in Moline resurfacing project is under way. The road is reduced to one lane in both directions from 48th Street to the Moline/East Moline border. The project includes the 53rd Street intersection. Expect delays. Construction is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 12, weather permitting.

• Pavement patching is under way on 16th Street from 36th Avenue to John Deere Road in Moline. One northbound lane and one southbound lane will remain open to traffic during construction. Drivers can expect delays. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

• Pavement replacement, bridge reconstruction and widening has begun on the 53rd Street and Interstate 74 interchange in Davenport. Construction work requires intermittent lane closures on 53rd Street. There will be one open lane in each direction at all times. An 11-foot width lane restriction will be in place when workers are present. I-74 will be reduced to one lane in both directions at 53rd Street with a 12-foot width lane restriction. The project is expected to be completed by late December, 2012.

• Rockingham Road at Howell Street in Davenport is be closed to vehicular traffic. Follow the signed detour. Howell Street from north of the Rockingham Road intersection to First Street remains closed to vehicular traffic. Construction activities in this area should be completed by mid-August. Howell Street at River Drive south of Nestle/Purina’s plant entrance also remains closed. Access roads to Nichol’s Aluminum, Midwest Recyclers, McCabe’s Equipment and Iowa Forge have been opened. Follow the signs.
