Atlantis Launch Helps Bring Florida Woman Home
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - The measure of the emotion of the audience during the launch of Atlantis would need a single scale of NASA could develop.
And feelings of Kim Schrecengost would overthrow him.
"I used to go to Cocoa Beach High, and graduated from here, I miss it a lot," she said.
She has since moved and do not visit often. But as the dollars, or so many others, she felt now was the time to come.
"It meant a lot to us today," she said with her arm around her Cara 14-year-old daughter.
Like so many others who lived here, she had family ties to NASA.
"He was always there," she said of her father Tom. "He was an electrical engineer, worked for them for 36 years."
His father worked on Apollo rockets and even commuting.
He died before he could see the final release.
"It was like a kid when he looked lance, he gets nervous, they were not in place."
Is that the passion of Kim wants her daughter to experience.
Why she finally decided it was time to go home.
"The people applaud," she says fight against a tear, "They cheered on the beach."
"It was great," said Cara pause for a while. "It reminded me of my grandfather."
And even if Kim came with a heavy heart, she said the power of the shuttle has to lighten the load.
